Polish vehicle carrier Adampol has stepped in to help Grimaldi with the delivery of Fiat 500 volumes moving between Fiat Chrysler Automobile’s (FCA’s) plant in Tychy and dealers in the UK. The additional service was needed because of a peak in production at the Tychy plant according to Grimaldi.

Additional capacity was needed for the movement of 1,700 vehicles so Adampol quickly arranged two separate loads each of 850 vehicles on behalf of Grimaldi via the port of Gdansk for onward transport by short sea onboard a vessel operated by Euro Marine Lines.

Speaking about the most recent of the two shipments, a spokesperson for Adampol said: “Adampol trucks efficiently delivered [the cars] to the port of Gdansk and then, in just seven hours, all 850 units were loaded on a ship. The result is really impressive: more than 120 cars per hour. Thus, the entire loading process ran very smoothly, at a level comparable with the largest ports in Europe.”

Adampol has a long established relationship with Grimaldi.

"We support them regularly on their logistics flows from Italy to other European countries," said a spokesperson for the Polish carrier, adding, "Fiat is our top customer. We deliver Fiat cars from plants in Poland, Italy and Germany.

Last month Hyundai Glovis completed the purchase of a 70% stake in Adampol.
