US-based pooling service provider Container and Pooling Solutions (CAPS) has rebranded its Intermediate Bulk Container management business as Chep Pallecon Solutions. Chep and CAPS are both divisions of supply chain and information management provider Brambles.

“We have combined forces with the existing Chep Automotive & Industrial Solutions group under a much larger roof in Livonia, Michigan,” said a spokesperson for Chep.

Chep Pallecon Solutions has been providing container management services in North America for more than 15 years, providing rental, tracking, and full services for returnable bulk containers.

Chep said that transition enables it to develop the services offered through collaboration with its sister divisions and effectively become part of the world’s largest supplier of pallets, reusable plastic crates and container pooling solutions.

“Considering CAPS was purchased by Brambles almost three years ago, this change is ceremonial, not operational in nature,” said Robert Wiedmaier, vice president and general manager. “Utilising the Chep name helps us align with our continued global and cross-platform growth strategy.”

CAPS was bought by Brambles for $16.4m in 2011.
