Ceva Logistics has opened a local parts distribution centre (PDC) in Italy for Magneti Marelli’s Aftermarket Parts and Services division. Magneti supplies systems, modules and high technology components for the automotive industry.

The 1,600 sq. m facility is located at Interporto Padova, near Padua in northern Italy, and will serve Magneti Marelli’s customers in the Triveneto, Bolazano and Trento regions.

According to Ceva the parts centre has 5,000 shelf locations and is managed using RFID, supported by the logistics providers Matrix technology suite.

Orders are delivered twice a day, with a cut-off time of 18.00 (local time) for morning orders and 13.00 next day for those received in the afternoon.

"Magneti Marelli needed a further improvement of delivery speed in Triveneto, a strategic area for our sales, said Marco Manzi, CFO of Magneti Marelli After Market Parts and Services. “The strong partnership with Ceva has allowed us to transform, in a very short time, a local distribution centre into a logistics centre with excellent infrastructure. Thanks to this solution, we can now guarantee deliveries in a shortened time frame, increasing the satisfaction among our final users."
