CarGoLog service for deliveries in Italy
A new finished vehicle service in Italy is promising direct delivery of vehicles from manufacturers to dealerships through the country as well as offering value-added ancillary services including pre-delivery inspection (PDI).

Called CarGoLog, the company was founded in 2009 but has expanded during 2011 to include finished vehicle delivery services from a facility in Arese near Milan. The company is headed by Alberto Tresoldi, former managing director of the automotive division at Sada Group, one of Italy’s leading logistics providers.

CarGoLog said it offers domestic and international transport with its own fleet and through the use of subcontractors. It will also handle the organisation of trains and intermodal transport.

The company has invested around $3.5m in a fleet of 50 car carriers, predominantly from equipment supplier Rolfo, and has recruited 250 owner-operator drivers.

CarGoLog is reported to have signed contracts with Fiat and Ford for the service and distribution of vehicles from the Arese site to dealerships in Italy.

For Ford, the company is receiving vehicles shipped from the carmaker’s Genk plant in Belgium.

In terms of compound management, CarGoLog said it would provide storage, PDI and body shop services, as well as track and trace.

The company is also reported to be opening a second facility in Sacconago to receive vehicles shipped by rail by TrenItalia from Fiat factories in Pomigliano d’Arco and Val di Sangro.

CarGoLog has forecast a turnover of €6m in 2012.
