XPO-Logistics-Europe[Updated 14th April] Renault has awarded a further contract to XPO Logistics for the inbound supply of parts to the carmaker’s French assembly facilities in the Seine valley. XPO is already handling inbound services for the carmaker in western France following its takeover of Norbert Dentressangle last year.

From its 19,500 sq.m cross-sector facility in Parçay-Meslay, near Tours, XPO Logistics is now handling the daily collection of car parts from Renault suppliers and delivery to the Sandouville and Flins plants, drawing on a fleet of 128 trucks.

At the Parçay-Meslay facility XPO carries out supply chain activities including warehousing, fulfilment and distribution. It is also managing return transport of used handling crates and the transit of car parts via an XPO Logistics cross-dock facility.

According to XPO, the service it offers ensures optimised routing between the suppliers, logistics and plant locations and takes into account any fluctuations in volume. Using its own fleet XPO is providing full- and less-than-truckload services as well as freight brokerage.

“We are able to offer Renault a high quality of service, due to our advanced knowledge of the automotive sector and Renault’s processes and the constant sharing of best practices between our experts," said Fabien Ruelleu, business development manager, automotive solutions at XPO Logistics.

Lutz Quietmeyer, head of upstream transport engineering for the logistics of Renault-Nissan in Europe, said: “Our collaboration with XPO is key and we rely on teamwork to find service and productivity improvement levers. This approach is meant to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, as well as breakthrough innovations.”
