The company is also refining its logistics and inventory management systems to be more agile. “We are connecting our planning processes with IT tools and platforms… to have the proper communication flowing end to end,” Mair explains. This integration allows for greater transparency and faster decision-making.

As a tier-one supplier, GKN is collaborating more closely with OEM customers earlier in the design process to build flexibility into their operations. Mair emphasises the importance of digitalisation and data analytics to improve execution: “We need the proper data to take data-driven decisions.”

Balancing cost, quality and sustainability is another priority. “We need to have world-class quality, be competitive, and achieve CO2 neutral very soon,” Mair notes, highlighting the need for investment in technology and strong partnerships with service providers.
