The Indian division of logistics and marine services provider GAC Shipping has recently appointed C Krishnakumar (pictured) as the general manager of logistics services at its Chennai office. Krishnakumar moves there from Caravel Logistics and will be responsible for the growing demands for services in the automotive and pharmaceutical industries in southern India.
“We see a growing demand for logistics services in South India, including Chennai,” said Mark Delaney, managing director of GAC Shipping India. “Under the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, the development of the overall logistics network is gradually taking shape and the port city of Chennai is emerging as one of the country’s major logistics hubs. This bodes well for logistics services providers like GAC. Krishna and his team can look forward to exciting times ahead.”
Delaney was appointed managing director GAC India in April this year, following the retirement of Paul Haegeman.
Krishnakumar brings 23 years of experience to the role. Prior to Caravel Logistics, he worked in management roles for CMA CGM. He said he was optimistic about bringing beneficial change to the industry in Tamil Nadu/Karnataka.
“We are committed to providing the best logistics solutions in line with our global standards to the [export-import] trade, with additional focus on the automotive, engineering and pharmaceutical industries in and around Chennai,” he said.
