Rhenus Logistics buildingDr Marco Schröter has taken over as chairman of the supervisory board at German logistics provider Rhenus Group, replacing Reinhard Lohmann, who has stepped down from the board after reaching the age limit for board membership.

Schröter has been a member of the board since the beginning of 2017 and was previously a long-standing member of the board at Deutsche Bahn division, Schenker. His most recent role prior to joining Rhenus was as business transformation and integration officer at Solera Holdings, which provides risk management and asset protection software and services to the automotive industry. He has also worked as chief financial officer for Nokia Siemens Networks.

Reinhard Lohmann has been involved with the Rhenus supervisory board since 1998 when the Rethmann Group took over the company. He initially worked as the commercial manager at Rethmann, then as its chief financial officer, and later as chairman of the board before moving onto the group’s supervisory board.

“In the name of the shareholders’ family, we would like to thank him for his extraordinary involvement,” said Dr Martin Rethmann, deputy chairman of the Rethmann Group’s supervisory board. “He has had a lasting impact on the company’s development through his strategic far-sightedness. His constructive advice has played a part in ensuring that Rhenus and the entire group are enjoying dynamic growth at this time and have been able to develop a global presence.”

Rhenus said Lohmann had led the supervisory boards of the three divisional companies, Rhenus, Remondis (which handles recycling services) and Saria (which makes bio-industrial products), as chairman for many years.

Along with Schröter, the supervisory board at Rhenus consists of deputy chairman Dr Martin Rethmann and Georg Rethmann, managing director of the Remondis division.
