Polish logistics and transport provider, Adampol, has started volume operations at a 6-hectare distribution compound adjacent to the Ford Sollers' plant in Naberezhnye Chelny, Russia. The services are being carried out through its Russian division Vectura.
The compound, which represents an investment of more than €3m ($3.3m) by Adampol, is handling Fiesta and EcoSport vehicles from a plant just 250 metres away, and currently has 800 vehicles in storage for onward distribution. It is also due to start handling volumes from the Ford Sollers plant at Elabuga, which is 50km away. Those include the Kuga, Explorer and Transit models.
The compound, which is monitored round the clock, has total capacity for 1,500 vehicles, 20 loading lines and space for 20 car transporters. It also has a rail connection. Adampol will be processing 2,000 vehicles a month through the facility. The company is also handling the distribution to Russian dealers by road through its Vectura division in Russia.
According to Adampol, the compound’s central location – 1,100km east of Moscow and 500km from the Urals – makes it a good point for distributing Ford vehicles on the Russian and Asian markets.
In other news, last month Adampol started operations at its business unit in Slovakia, which was set up in November last year. The company is providing transport and logistics services for vehicles made at the Kia plant in Zilinia. Those services include PDI, waxing, storage and shipment by road and rail. Adampol is handling more than 1,000 vehicles a day at that facility.
