UK-based time-critical delivery provider C4 Logistics is increasing its workforce by 15% in the areas of IT, operations and business development, as its European business sees a rise in volumes. Eight new positions have been created at the company.

The company said it was recruiting additional UK and European staff in response to new business wins that are a result of its deployment of new customer-friendly IT solutions. They include a smart phone track and trace technology and customer portal that allows customers to follow the progress of their consignments, including when airborne.

In addition, the company said the crisis in Calais has created additional demand for air charter work as automotive clients look for alternative delivery routes to meet production demands. Freight movements between Europe and the UK have been disrupted since July, beginning with union strike action and since then by the ongoing refugee crisis.

Sébastien Barth, managing director, said: “This is an exciting time for C4 Logistics. As we approach 15 years of business, we are certainly going from strength to strength across Europe, and having a unique track and trace and customer portal provides the people we work for the peace of mind that we can and will deliver.

“Consequently, we have found ourselves in the position where we needed to recruit more staff in order to meet demands from current and new clients which has put us a very strong position for the future.”
