Ceva Logistics is investing in 120 new trucks to upgrade its fleet in the UK between now and the end of the year. The company said the 44-tonne Iveco Stralis trucks, which are being supplied by Dawson Rentals, will enhance the efficiency and fuel economy of its operations serving the automotive, consumer and healthcare industries.
"We believe that our customers’ deliveries should be undertaken using the most modern and efficient equipment,” said Michael O'Donoghue, Ceva's executive vice-president for the UK, Ireland and Nordics. “By adding these state-of-the-art vehicles to our fleet, we will be able to operate with the very best equipment and enable us to manage our customers' supply chains to the highest possible standards.”
Dawson Rentals managing director, John Fletcher, added: “Having understood Ceva’s focus on reliability, support and fuel performance, both for economy and environmental reasons, we were able to recommend the right vehicle package, and as importantly, move fast to secure trucks with a very specific spec and mobilise the whole project on time within a mutually acceptable contracted price.”
The automotive industry accounts for 25% of Ceva's revenue and in its second quarter results posted in August the company reported new business wins from the sector in its contract logistics division, helping to increase revenue by $6m year-on-year in that division.
Earlier this year, in June, Ceva signed an agreement with packaging and container expert, Goodpack, for the use of its steel containers to manage the transport and storage of tyres across Asia, Australia and North America. The company said the aim of the agreement was to deliver “a complete and robust supply chain solution for the tire industry in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way”.
