Europa Warehouse, a division of logistics operator Europa Worldwide Group, has won an 18-month, £1m ($1.5m) contract to provide 3PL warehousing and logistics services for UK-based Euro Car Parts.
Supporting Euro Car Parts’ national distribution centres, Europa will handle the company’s mixed spares stock, which includes more than 5,000 different products.
Euro Car Parts is currently going through a period of rapid growth. Around 5,000 pallets will be imported directly from suppliers and stored at Europa’s 16,540 sq.m warehouse in Birmingham.
Europa’s road freight service will pick, pack and deliver products to the Euro Car Parts national distribution centre, which is based in Tamworth, Staffordshire.
Currently, Euro Car Parts’ two distribution centres supply nearly 200 of its branches across the country. A third distribution centre in Tamworth is under construction and due to be operational in 2016.
Across the UK, Euro Car Parts has 224 branches, with more than 140,000 parts available. It mainly specialises in major car parts such as brake pads, wiper blades and batteries, engine oil, car fluids, sat navs, stereos and speakers.
“We’re proud of the strength of our partnership with Euro Car Parts. The nature of the products – the variety, size and fragile nature of some of the units – can make the picking and packing process quite challenging,” said Jason Stirling, senior business development manager at Europa Warehouse. Stirling added that it dealt with this with a good range of contacts and its Accellos warehouse management system, which integrated with Euro Car Parts’ system.
Europa’s Birmingham facility already handles inbound air freight from the Far East for an automotive manufacturer. Orders are sent onwards from Birmingham to production sites in the EU and overseas within tight timescales.
