Ulf Harring (pictured) has joined global tyre maker Bridgestone as chief operating officer (COO) for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

He will be responsible for logistics, supply chain management and procurement, along with manufacturing, quality, IT, environment, and health and safety matters. He took up his new role on September 1.

“It will be a great pleasure to work with Bridgestone,” said Harring. “After almost 90 years, the company is a leader in the creation, development and delivery of premium products and solutions for the new mobility era. It will be personally and professionally fulfilling to work on the challenges we face today and the opportunities that arise in the future.”

Harring, a Swedish national, has moved from Bosch Siemens where he was COO and executive vice-president at home appliances for Europe and Latin America. He previously worked for Mercedes-Benz Cars, Mitsubishi Motors and Electrolux in operations, procurement management and supply chain services.

He was awarded the Supply Chain Professional of the Year award by business consultants Accenture and partners SAS Institute (analytics) and SILF (training) in 2013.

“We are particularly enthusiastic about Ulf joining the Bridgestone team," said Paolo Ferrari, CEO and president of Bridgestone EMEA and executive officer of Bridgestone. “Ulf will not just work to drive performance in our core tyre operations. As part of Bridgestone EMEA senior leadership, I expect his insight and experience will provide tremendous support as Bridgestone consolidates itself as a trusted mobility solutions leader.”
