Gefco has announced a new contract with Jaguar Land Rover that will see it provide reusable packaging solutions to support the company's parts production.
The logistics provider will be managing the supply of packaging units developed between itself and an as-yet unnamed packaging manufacturer, called ‘Magnum Optimum’ containers.
These large containers will add to the existing 6.4m container units currently managed by Gefco's GefBoxSystem solution, a returnable fleet of plastic containers.
The service should help JLR to reduce the amount of reusable packaging it uses. The increased stackability of the containers throughout the supply chain should also help to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and save costs.
The deal is expected to last for several years, and will range across a number of UK and international markets.
