WW_Tongala_Toyota_Loading_Toyohashi_Japan_09122015Toyota has chosen Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (WWL) to move its passenger vehicles to North America from Japan on new direct service. The latest contract is in addition to the finished vehicle ocean and land-based services that WWL provides for the carmaker between Japan and Europe.

WWL also provides services for Toyota in Australia and Africa.

The first vessel, exclusively carrying Toyota vehicles, departed from the Japanese port of Tahara on 12th September and will arrive at the US East Coast at the beginning of October. Ports of discharge there will be Jacksonville in Florida and Newark in New Jersey.

Neither Toyota nor WWL would provide further details on the volume, model mix or schedule citing protection of customer interests and vendor selection.

WWL did state it was continuing to strengthen its global ocean and land-based service network to support the needs of its customers for the transportation of Automobiles, High- and Heavy Equipment and a broader range of ro-ro cargo.
