Brose has joined forces with SAP and Capgemini to boost supplier integration using digitised identity management through a transparent, digital supply chain.
Managing a large supplier base traditionally involved complex procedures, with supplier employees juggling multiple usernames and passwords across various organisational units, alongside the need for specific user roles in backend applications.
Addressing these outdated and inefficient processes, Brose, in partnership with Capgemini and SAP, has developed a centralised collaboration platform. The platform, equipped with advanced identity management and self-service capabilities, is now accessible as a SaaS solution beyond its initial pilot stage, significantly streamlining the integration process.
The solution, dubbed CSI4Auto and built on the SAP Business Technology Platform, optimises access management by enabling supplier employees to log in once to reach backend applications. Leveraging SAP’s identity authentication service, it provides centralised access to Brose’s array of cloud and on-premise applications.
The initiative focuses on minimising manual effort in supplier integration, accelerating the supplier onboarding process, and reducing support expenses
Employees self-register under their organisational units with designated roles, which are then administered and activated by unit administrators, ensuring accurate access rights are automatically assigned for all of Brose’s backend applications. Additionally, the platform facilitates the deployment of new applications to targeted suppliers or employees through a single sign-on mechanism.
Opting for a blend of SAP Business Technology Platform services, the development team avoided the need for a bespoke solution from the ground up. The move, combined with agile software development practices, led to a substantial reduction in development time.
Maid Jakubovic, product owner, Automotive at Capgemini, commented: “The solution can be found in the SAP store. There it is available to the entire automotive industry, but also to other industries that have a similarly complex delivery network.
“The customer gets everything from Capgemini from a single source, that means the solution as such as well as the underlying SAP cloud environment.”
The initiative focuses on minimising manual effort in supplier integration, accelerating the supplier onboarding process, and reducing support expenses. The main beneficiaries of these advancements are the purchasing department, now enabled to collaborate more effectively with suppliers, and the IT department, responsible for overseeing the supplier network.
