Work has begun on construction of NYK's new pre-delivery inspection and storage facility in the Philippines. The facility, which will be built on land owned by International Container Terminal Services (ICTSI) and used as a storage centre for finished vehicles, is located in Barangay Niugan, Cabuyao Laguna.
In a statement, NYK said vehicles would be discharged from Bauan International Port, a subsidiary of ICTSI operating the Bauan terminal in Batangas.
In its initial phase, the facility will offer 5,000 sq.m of covered warehousing and storage space for 2,800 finished vehicles.
In addition to project development, ICTSI and NYK will also implement a number of corporate social responsibility initiatives for the benefit of the host communities. ICTSI has already donated a 4,500 sq.m area to the City of Cabuyao, which will be used to build access roads leading to other parts of Barangay Niugan.
