No deal Brexit would increase cost of EVs by £2,800, says SMMT
The UK’s Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has warned that a no deal Brexit could push up the cost of buying an imported battery electric vehicle (BEV) in the UK by £2,800 ($3,600). Two thirds of all BEVs on sale in the UK are imported from Europe and between January and September this year 40.8% of all the new BEVs registered on UK roads came from the EU, more than from any other territory.

Magna to build Fisker Ocean electric vehicle in Europe
Magna International is going to build Fisker’s forthcoming Ocean SUV under contract at its manufacturing facility in Graz, Austria. Production of the electric vehicle (EV) will begin in the fourth quarter of 2022.

EV start-up Arrival to build microfactory in South Carolina
Arrival, the start-up that plans to build electric commercial vehicles in what it calls ‘microfactories’, has announced its first US production location in York County, South Carolina. It has also raised $118m from funds managed by BlackRock.

Hyundai to build R&D centre and factory in Singapore
In a virtual groundbreaking ceremony, Hyundai has announced it is building the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center in Singapore (HMGICS) which will serve as a new R&D centre and small-scale production facility with an output of up to 30,000 vehicles per year and help to forge a new supply chain in the city state.
