Transport provider, Ewals Cargo Care, is in the process of adding 600 Mega Huckepack XLS trailers to its fleet this month, in addition to the 250 it added to its service last year.
The curtained trailers, which are manufactured by Krone and Schmitz, have been developed and patented by Ewals. The company said the TÜV certified equipment includes an extra secure curtain, which makes it a good alternative to a box trailer with regard to load safety and trailer security.
It also said that the absence of loose parts, such as side boards, increases safety for loading personnel and the driver, and also speeds up the loading process.
Last month the company shipped its first Mega Huckepack trailer on the new ECC rail connection between Genk in Belgium and Curtici in Romania.
The company said that in addition to the existing intermodal and ro-ro network to other regions of Europe, such as Scandinavia, Spain and the UK, the new rail route meant an extra focus on shipments and supply chain solutions to and from Central Europe.
