French automotive parts maker Faurecia is building a new interiors production factory in Blue Springs, Missouri. Production of door panels and instrument panels is slated to begin later this year, ramping up to full production by the end of 2020.
The new US plant will cost more than $60m to establish and create more than 300 jobs, Faurecia said.
“Blue Springs offers us the perfect combination of being close to our customers and having a skilled workforce that knows the automotive industry,” a spokesman for the company said. “This is a strategic location that will allow us to serve many of our current and future customers.”
The site has scope for expansion, he added.
Faurecia is not anticipating any tie-ups with its other two plants in Missouri, however, which make other products – emissions control systems in Dexter and seating at a factory in Wentzville.
