DB Schenker and NYK Logistics reaped rewards at Frost & Sullivan’s 2009 Asia Pacific Transportation & Logistics Awards held last Thursday at the Intercontinental Singapore.
 
A total of 37 awards were given to companies in recognition of their outstanding achievement and superior performance in the region across a range of industries.
 
DB Schenker received Automotive Logistics Service Provider of the Year for its performance in Malaysia, having been rated highly by automotive clients there for the range of services provided. The company was noted for its ability to provide just-in-time inventory management solutions and lean manufacturing support, as well as strong ro-ro handling capability and sophisticated visibility.
 
“Its automotive customers also indicated that they will likely continue to use the services of DB Schenker in Malaysia, mainly due to its excellent customer service, high quality of services, and also dedication to handle client enquiries and ability to solve its customers’ problems quickly,” Mr Keow Soon Hiong, Consultant, Transportation & Logistics Practice, Frost & Sullivan, told Automotive Logistics.
 
The company received two other awards for the pharmaceutical and hi-tech sectors in Singapore.
 
Meanwhile, NYK Logistics took Automotive Logistics Service Provider of the Year (South East Asia), as well as a further award in the same category specifically for Thailand. Of note in Thailand was the company’s provision of a completed land bridge service between Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore, as well as its Laem Chabang Logistics Centre, which provides access for import and export activities from Laem Chabang port 15 minutes away.
 
“NYK Logistics’ ability to provide best-in-class information technology system and dedication to handle client enquiries has positioned the company as the preferred logistics service provider for automotive companies in South East Asia,” said Mr Hiong.
 
Its operation in Indonesia – PT NYK Puninar Logistics Indonesia – took the Automotive Logistics Service Provider of the Year award in that region.
 
NYK also received an award for Hi-Tech Logistics Service Provider of the Year (South East Asia).
