Logistics provider Kuehne + Nagel has recently expanded its provision of network services with the introduction of a supply chain management tool called KN 12M Overland – Inbound to Manufacturing, which is designed to help tier 2 and 3 automotive suppliers benefit from better procurement planning.
The company recognised that automotive suppliers at that level were regularly confronted with fluctuating order volumes and ever-changing production requirements. In response it said that KN I2M Overland would provide dynamic inbound supply chain planning, optimised inbound transport, process transparency and clear cost allocation. Operations are supported via the global Kuehne + Nagel integrated logistics control centres and a standardised IT-solution.
“With KN I2M Overland we are offering our customers sustainable added value,” said Stefan Paul, executive vice president, Overland at Kuehne + Nagel International. “The product will be extended gradually allowing suppliers in engineering/manufacturing, FMCG and high-tech industries to also benefit from cost reductions in their procurement logistics.”
