Kuehne + Nagel has announced the release of a new carbon calculator for its customers that it said will provide exact data on emissions rather than estimations.
The Global Seafreight Carbon Calculator (GSCC) allows calculations of carbon, sulphur and nitrogen dioxide emissions for container and less-than-container (LCL) movements from door-to-door. The company said the tool would help customers to calculate and model complex supply chains.
In a statement Kuehne + Nagel said the underlying methodology of the calculator is based on the Clean Cargo Working Group standards for CO2 emissions, and allows customers to obtain an individual trade lane based CO2 footprint per gram, TEU and kilometre.
The GSCC provides real time CO2 emissions data and a calculation model for strategic carbon footprint simulation. It also provides an overview of CO2 emissions for sea and intermodal transport.
Additionally the GSCC features detailed information about SOx emissions.
Kuehne + Nagel said that it can also provide customer specific CO2 emission reports on request with its advanced Global Transport Carbon Calculator. The tool is designed to monitor carbon emission from transport activities and the reports include actual ocean carrier emission data provided by individual carriers. The data is fully integrated into the KN Login platform and allows scalable reports per trade lane, region, country, mode of transport and carrier.
