From his Delta Airlines flight at 30,000ft, ICL president Patrick Donahoe watched live video streaming from the 2013 Automotive Logistics Global conference, which finished yesterday in Detroit. The event was our first to feature live streaming to a global – and indeed an airborne – audience beyond the conference hall. Donahoe had been attending as a delegate and was called away before the conference closed yet wanted to see the final session.
Automotive Logistics Global Live featured streaming from all four plenary sessions of the conference, as well as from two sessions on the (inbound) suppliers’ supply chain and two on finished vehicle logistics. The Live service also allowed online comments from both delegates and remote attendees, as well as messaging between everyone registered.
The plenary sessions included market forecasts and trends from IHS and Alix Partners, and the closing discussion on the future of automotive logistics featuring Ford’s new executive director of MP&L, Grant Belanger, and Mike Riggs, chairman of Jack Cooper. Included were Riggs’ comments on the planned acquisition of bankrupt Allied System.
Also on video are three highly personal presentations – in the style of TED talks – from recently-appointed WWL president & CEO Christopher Connor, from Toyota national manager of rail Mike Nelson, looking back on his life and career as he approaches retirement, and from VW vice president of parts and vehicle logistics Anu Goel, on his career since arriving in the US as a 2yo immigrant from India.
We will publish a full conference report shortly. In the meantime view the videos from Automotive Logistics Live at http://event.wavecastpro.com/alglobal2013/programme/
