Holgar Bätz has moved from OTLG to become VW Group’s head of supply chain development for the After Sales division.

VW Group has appointed Holgar Bätz as its head of supply chain development for the carmaker’s After Sales division. Bätz was previously head of logistics at Volkswagen’s original service parts logistics division OTLG (Original Teile Logistik) before taking up the new role on January 1 this year.

Bätz is now responsible for optimising the flow of goods within the VW Group’s global aftersales supply chain, as well as planning its logistics infrastructure, according to VW Group. “In particular, he is responsible for the further improvement of the logistics site in Baunatal/Hessen, with over 1.2m sq.m of warehouse space, one of the world’s largest and most complex warehouse infrastructures in After Sales,” said a spokesperson for the carmaker.

VW’s original parts centre in Baunatal/Hessen, near the city of Kassel in Germany, normally distributes aftermarket parts to 25,000 service centres in 86 countries, with an average of 2,000 tons of parts shipped per day.

Bätz has been with VW Group for more than 20 years during which time he has held senior roles in logistics and supply chain related to the aftermarket, including head of aftersales supply chain at Seat, and head of warehouse and transport logistics for VW Group aftersales. Prior to VW, Baetz also worked for logistics providers DHL Freight and Danzas.
