Xavier Duchemin will become Stellantis’ managing director in France, succeeding Christophe Musy, who has held the role since March last year.
Stellantis has confirmed that Xavier Duchemin will become managing director in France, moving from his short-lived role as vice-president of global supply chain.
Duchemin was appointed as vice-president of global supply chain at Stellantis just last month. The OEM has not named a successor for the global supply chain VP role.
The quick change in appointment is part of a global restructuring by Jean-Philippe Imparato, Stellantis’ chief operating officer of Europe, and follows a tumultuous time for the OEM’s top executive team. At the start of this month, Carlos Tavares suddenly resigned as CEO, almost a year and a half before the expiry of his contract. The carmaker said it expects a new CEO to be appointed in the first half of 2025, having begun the formal process to identify a successor back in October.
In the meantime, Stellantis has assembled an interim executive committee, headed up by chairman John Elkann. The interim executive committee is made up of nine other executives, including Arnaud Deboeuf, head of manufacturing and supply chain, and Maxime Picat, head of purchasing and supplier quality.
In October, the carmaker announced executive changes including the supply chain and logistics organisation separating from purchasing and reporting to Deboeuf. At the time, the company said that the “turbulent global environment” was the main driver for the decision.
The role of global supply chain VP has changed hands often in recent years at Stellantis. When Duchemin gained the title last month, he took the reins from Yves Caracatzanis, who was in the role for three years.
