Toyota Motor Corporation is to switch to a cloud-based supply chain management system from a manual set-up, to manage its automotive demand and supply chain processes.
The system, called RapidResponse, will unify the company’s global demand and supply planning between its sales and production divisions and help better manage vehicle and unit volume, according to the technology provider, Kinaxis of Canada.
Iwao Nakano, information technology general manager at Toyota, said the system would optimise inventory and enable more flexible response to customer demand, as well as unifying sales and production and improving demand and supply planning.
Kinaxis CEO John Sicard said the RapidResponse concurrent planning platform would help Toyota to “instantly create what-if scenarios and better understand the impact of various supply change management strategies to create positive outcomes.”
