As head of supplier risk management at Daimler Truck, Marion Gillich said the company uses digital tools including AI to monitor supplier risk on the production side - be it risk from financial health, geopolitical risk, natural catastrophies or regulations.
“There is no one fits all solution,” she said. “We focus on the risk we want to look at, otherwise it becomes blurry.”
Daimler looks at the data it already has, to check if it is high quality and if it can use that data to plug into its supplier risk model.
She said the company is also looking at the depth of the risks identified, beyond tier-1s, using AI technology. Then, Gillich’s team looks at the visualisation of that data for its internal teams to understand it.
