At Automotive Logistics & Supply Chain Europe 2025, Jean-Marc Carlicchi, vice-president of supply chain engineering at Renault Group sat down on the Red Sofa to discuss how the OEM is using operational control towers to enhance visibility and decision-making across inbound and outbound logistics.
Renault started development of its inbound and outbound control towers more than three years ago and has integrated AI into these towers to assist engineers in identifying disruptions and proposing the most effective solutions based on historical patterns.
He said that the use of AI tools are helping reduce the time spent on manufal problem-solving and allow Renault to shift its focus towards value-added tasks. Carlicchi said the supply chain is having a growing influence within the Renault Group, and is expanding its planning horizon from six months to 18 months and aiming for three years. He stressed the importance of involving supply chain in early discussions on procurement contracts to enable more agile decision-making.
