On the final day of the Automotive Logistics & Supply Chain Global 2024 conference in Dearborn, Michigan, Automotive Logistics’ Chief Content Officer Christopher Ludwig spoke to logistics experts on stage about digitalisation, collaboration, talent and gaining visibility on a connected end-to-end supply chain.
Delegates heard from the likes of David Leich, executive director of Global Supply Chain at GM, who talked about building a supply chain map where the OEM can detect risk from tier-1, tier-2 and tier-3 levels and feed back early warning signs across the supply chain, an important factor during times of uncertainty. Bosch’s vice-president of Transport Management & IT Innovations, Marzell Bandur, also talked about connecting the whole global transport network with information and using standards and key systems to do that.
The next generation of talent was also present at the event, with supply chain and logistics students from Wayne State University, Michigan State University and Northwood University networking with key speakers and taking part in panels on talent development.
“It’s so important to focus on the next generation, because the skills that they will bring is going to transform this sector even further,” said Ludwig.
Finally, we closed the conference with a fireside chat with Jeff Morrison, senior vice-president of Global Purchasing & Supply Chain at GM. “Morrison is really one of the most innovative leaders in this space, so focused on long-term strategy, partnership and factors that will drive GM’s strategy in areas like electrification, sustainability and talent and diversity,” Ludwig said.
