Finishing up the first day of panel sessions at the ALSC Mexico 2023 conference, Christopher Ludwig, editor-in-chief, Automotive Logistics discusses the opportunities and optimism in the Mexican logistics sector.

Delegates heard from Lizette Gracida, senior director of external affairs and trade compliance, Toyota Motor de México who said that the industry is not only recovering from pandemic disruption but surpassing it. She said the OEM has been working closely with government and military officials who are ontrolling the borders and ports, as well as other key stakeholders.

The nearshoring trend has taken over the sector, with tier suppliers and OEMs increasing their production, but logistics is a decisive factor in this, as explained by multiple industry experts on stage including BMW and Bocar Group.

And to finish the day, we heard from a unique panel made up of directors of various divisions of the Volkswagen Group, who came together to talk about the synergy opportunities in North America and how VW can capitalise on this synergy in Mexico.
