UK logistics and warehousing company Barnes Logistics is adding 15 new trailers to its fleet as it continues to benefit from a strong local automotive production sector.
The company serves the UK’s motor manufacturing industry, providing Just In Time sequenced deliveries direct to lineside at major OEM's throughout the country.
Managing director Chris Barnes said: “The British motor industry is booming and we’re delighted to be able to gear up and help service the high demand we are experiencing from existing clients, as well as other new business in the region and nationally.”
According to industry body the Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders, 1.7m cars were built in the UK in 2016, an increase of 8.5% on the previous year and the highest for 17 years.
Barnes Logistics operates a fleet of more than 60 vehicles and has seven depots across the UK as well as warehousing in Rochdale and Coventry.
The new EN 12642-XL rated trailers will be built by Lawrence David. They will feature aerodynamic front deflectors and rear roof air diffusers to reduce drag, boosting fuel efficiency and lowering emissions.
