Bastian provider material-handling equipment and automation technologies

Bastian Solutions, which makes automated material handling equipment, has merged viastore’s North America office into its own company. Based in Germany, viastore provides automated pallet-handling equipment and technology. Its North America branch will now operate as Bastian Solutions while the parent company continues to serve customers globally.

The move consolidates the expertise of both to support Toyota Automated Logistics Group (TALG), the umbrella organisation set up last year by Toyota Industries Corporation to house both companies along with Vanderlande and Toyota L&F (see box below).

According to Bastian it brings additional pallet-handling expertise in house for faster and enhanced customer support. “Likewise, Bastian will provide our integration expertise to viastore North America customers,” said a spokesperson for Bastian.

Bastian said the takeover of viastore North would create “a powerhouse in the logistics automation industry” and give customers access to a broader portfolio of products and technologies.

Ariel Oliveira, president of viastore North America said: “The combination of our advanced pallet handling expertise with Bastian’s robust systems integration capabilities enables us to deliver unmatched value and service.”

Customers benefitting from the combined services include Toyota Logistics Services, which supports Toyota Motor’s operations in North America.

“Bastian, as part of TALG, does provide material handling equipment and support directly to Toyota Logistics Services… as well as Toyota Motor North America and the North American regional team,” said a spokesperson for Bastian. “Bastian’s role for these companies generally focuses on improving logistics efficiency through automated guided vehicles (AGVs), supporting the parts distribution network and enhancing material handling processes through automation and other technologies.”

The company said the synergy in North America fosters improved knowledge sharing and enables more efficient delivery of services to customers. “This collaboration ensures faster, more responsive customer support, allowing TALG to address complex logistics challenges more effectively,” said the spokesperson.
