Software supplier Car Delivery Network (CDN) has adapted its VinDeliver finished vehicle electronic proof of delivery (ePOD) app with an enhancement to integrate it with the computer system run by US rail terminal operator, CSX Railroad.
CDN’s eOutgate enhancement allows truck operators using VinDeliver to upload reports of inspections they carry out when collecting vehicles from a rail terminal for final-mile delivery directly into CSX Railroad’s system, including damage codes and photographs, facilitating rapid release of vehicles and speeding up the terminal exit process.
“We are very pleased to have successfully integrated with the CSX system, thereby enabling our carrier partners to move another step closer to a paperless environment,” said CDN president and CEO, Greg May, about the development.
The eOutgate enhancement is already in use at the CSX Railroad Lawrenceville, Georgia and Birmingham, Alabama facilities. Truck operators using the app at CSX ramps include Supreme Auto Transport, Hansen & Adkins Auto Transport, and JMN Logistics and Transportation.
CDN has already implemented eOutgate at a number of Union Pacific rail facilities and work is underway to develop further interfaces to other US and Canadian railroad systems.
CDN says eOutgate is already in use at 21 out of an estimated 105 rail ramps handling finished vehicles in the US.
Earlier this year, CDN announced VinDispatch, a free industry application for dealer networks aiming to simplify storage and availability of vehicle delivery information by giving dealers visibility of inbound vehicles in real time along with past deliveries.
