Tier one supplier Continental is expanding its aftermarket parts distribution centre (PDC) in Southern Hesse, Germany by almost 7,000 sq.m in response to growth in the independent aftermarket.
Property manager Prologis is carrying out the expansion work for Continental Aftermarket at the facility in Gross-Rohrheim, increasing the logistics space to 34,000 sq.m. The work is expected to be finished in the early part of next year.
The additional area will be used for picking and storage and the expansion will increase the number of slots for small parts storage from 6,400 to more than 25,000. The number of pallet spaces will also grow to 44,550 and Continental said the additional room will enable it to become more flexible in shipments as well as shorten cycle times.

Groß-Rohrheim has the ideal conditions for future growth and our positive, trusting partnership with Prologis will enable us to rapidly adapt our logistics to this growth.”
This latest development follows the expansion in 2011 when Prologis added 8,400 sq.m to the facility.
Continental operates out of Groß-Rohrheim to provide global wholesalers with spare parts and accessories, which are distributed to dealers and service centres.
