DB Schenker’s Indian unit has begun managing aftermarket warehouse operations for Volkswagen Group in the National Capital Region (NCR) and in Bangalore.
Schenker India is responsible for receiving, binning, picking, packing and dispatch of VW, Audi, Skoda, Porsche and Lamborghini spare parts and accessories in the warehouse.
The 27,000 sq.km NCR, with a population of 45m people, comprises Delhi and the surrounding metropolitan areas.
Schenker began operating the near-37,000 sq.m NCR warehouse (pictured above, top) in Sultanpur, Gurgaon, in August; operations at the near-17,000 sq.m facility in Bangalore (pictured above, bottom) began in September. The two distribution centres cater to dealers across north, east and south India.
DB Schenker already handles customs clearance, inbound transportation from port and warehousing for the OEM in other parts of India.
