Claus Schmidt (pictured) has been appointed head of less-than-container-load (LCL) product at Ceva Logistics from March 1.
The Swiss company has identified the LCL segment as a key area for development within its ocean freight operation and said Schmidt’s extensive experience in the logistics industry made him ideally qualified for the newly-created role.
The new position involves taking responsibility for all of Ceva’s LCL offerings and seeking to drive further innovation across existing and new markets. “This will include digitisation of the LCL product to ensure constant yield improvement,” the company stated.
Schmidt was previously MD of Ceva’s North Asia cluster. He joined the company in early 2018 after a wide-ranging career in the industry with senior positions in Scandinavia, Dubai, Sydney and Hong Kong. For the past year, he has been based in the Philippines.
“This is an exciting new challenge with tremendous potential for growing what is already a very strong service offering,” commented Schmidt. “There is untapped potential, especially utilising our worldwide capabilities in e-commerce and our own operations where new lanes can be brought on stream.”
