WWL ALS, the division of Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (WWL) that handles abnormal loads and high and heavy equipment, has established a new business unit in Bergen, Norway, taking over premises previously run by WSS Nordic, a division of Wilhelmsen Ship Services (WSS).
The new company, WWL ALS Nordic AS, will expand on WSS Nordic's offering with a wider range of services.
“WWL ALS has taken on WSS Nordic, Bergen as we complement each other with the services we offer: project logistics and freight forwarding, with the added new sector focus of super yacht handling, which is Bergen’s specialism, and the opportunity to expand into Scandinavia,” a spokesperson told Automotive Logistics.
Chartering, project logistics and freight forwarding will be managed by air, sea and road.
WSS in Bergen and WWL ALS have worked for a number of years on high and heavy transport and said the plan now was to offer clients “a stronger team and access to a fantastic network within WWL ALS”.
Back in 2012, WWL bought a 60% stake in Abnormal Load Services Holding (ALS), a UK-based high-and-heavy-equipment logistics provider that specialised in ‘out of gauge’ transport and supply chain services.
ALS was subsequently integrated into WWL, enhancing the Norwegian logistics provider’s services in the break bulk sector.
