Ficosa Otomotiv San, the Turkish division of the Spanish automotive parts maker Ficosa Group, will use CHEP’s folding large containers (FLCs) at its plant in Bursa for transport of wire harnesses to a number of its plants in Eastern Europe.
According to Dan Walsh, Sales Director at CHEP, the pallet and container-pooling expert will deliver up to 5,000 containers a year on a pull system as part of a new three-year contract with Ficosa to provide enhanced protection of parts over its previous wooden packaging system.
The new contract extends CHEP’s Europe-wide contract with Ficosa, which is based in Barcelona, as well as extending its business in Turkey where it already works with a number of OEMs.
Ficosa’s choice of CHEP included its experience in the automotive industry and the opportunity to reduce product damage in transit, said Ficosa Otomive San spokesman Fatih Aslanbaº. “We were delighted when CHEP announced that it was expanding its operations into Turkey to support the automotive manufacturing base in the region,” Aslanbaº said.
