Toyota North America has combined IT expertise with logistics knowhow to help staff learn how to handle and accessorise new models coming through its vehicle preparation centres, including the use of Microsoft-based augmented reality goggles to aid with training. For Dave Kleiner, it’s important to note that the carmaker’s Applied Technology Research Lab is not just for research, but for real applications, including for digital twin representations for key facilities that are not open to the public. That includes a digital twin representation that showcases electricity and hydrogen fuel infrastructure at the port of Long Beach.
