As the sun set on California, delegates at Finished Vehicle Logistics North America 2025 reflected on a packed day of insight, optimism and transformation. Christopher Ludwig, chief content officer at Automotive Logistics, brought Day 1 to a close with a summary of the industry’s current crossroads—and how it must reimagine the road ahead.
From the morning’s opening keynote by Volkswagen Group of America to sessions on network engineering and damage prevention, the first full day of the conference was defined by themes of resilience, visibility and strategic regional thinking.
Ludwig recapped how ongoing uncertainty around tariffs continues to challenge OEMs, encouraging more dynamic scenario planning and cross-border coordination. He highlighted how companies like Nissan and Glovis are investing in data-driven optimisation models, while speakers from FreightVerify outlined how VIN-level visibility can support faster, revenue-enhancing decisions.
Sessions also delved into the importance of reducing damage and raising quality standards, with GM and Rivian offering practical insights into collaboration with railroads, carriers and partners to build smarter, safer delivery networks.
The day closed with a look ahead to more discussions on network transformation and quality, including a keynote with GM’s director of vehicle logistics, Amy Paulson.
With blue skies over the Pacific, Ludwig noted that despite ongoing disruption, a sense of clarity, collaboration and opportunity is beginning to emerge across finished vehicle logistics.
