Gefco has outlined the details of a recent contract signed with Audi for the supply of parts from Austria to its car plants in Germany. Gefco’s division in Austria is loading various components from three suppliers across four locations in the country and delivering them into Audi’s plants in Neckarsulm and Ingolstadt.
The logistics service provider is also handling the return of empty reusable containers back to the suppliers in Austria.
"Together with the Audi experts, we set up the extremely complex and detailed logistics process and tailored it optimally to the needs of all those involved,” said Peter Vanek, MD of Gefco Austria and Switzerland. He added that the contract was helping Gefco to strengthen its automotive expertise in Austria.
Earlier this year, Gefco reported an 8.1% growth in global automotive accounts outside of its traditional activity for former parent company Groupe PSA, which helped it earn €4.4 billion ($5.4 billion), an annual revenue gain of more than 5%.
