French transport and logistics provider Groupe CAT has acquired Spanish firm Sintax Logistica for an undisclosed sum.
Sintax is an international vehicle logistics provider with a focus on Spain, France, Portugal and Morocco. Its services include new and used vehicle transport, multimodal distribution, compound management and technical services such as pre-delivery inspection, post-production operations, vehicle maintenance and fleet management.
The company generated revenue of about €130m in 2016 and transports more than one million vehicles a year.
Alejandro Forbes, CEO of Groupe CAT, said: “This acquisition perfectly fits into the strategy our group has been following for years, which aims to strengthen our leading position in the European market for vehicle distribution.”
The purchase will lead to more than 500 experienced employees in five different countries joining Groupe CAT. The company’s road transport fleet will also increase by 600 trucks.
The combined business will offer customers a complete range of services for new and used cars, including transport and logistics, shipping and customs clearance, and technical, handling and storage services.
The purchase follows several other Groupe CAT acquisitions in the past few years, including those of Toquero in Spain, TRIAL in France, Fleetpoint in the Netherlands, WWL in Germany and Carlson (50%) in the UK.
Groupe CAT generated a turnover of €1.2 billion last year and employed more than 6,000 staff worldwide. The company delivered more than 4.2m vehicles and 23.3m packages in 2016.
