Supply chain services provider UTi has appointed Mike McClelland as senior vice-president of Contract Logistics and Distribution responsible for its Americas operations. The new role for expands on McClelland’s previous responsibility for UTi's distribution business in North America.
"Mike has successfully led our North American distribution business through a transition from four separate subsidiaries into one cohesive, successful business unit," said Ed Feitzinger, executive vice president Global Operations. "We look forward to Mike turning his focus to growing our contract logistics business while continuing to advance our distribution products. The combination of contract logistics with distribution provides seamless integrated solutions for our clients in the Americas."
UTi operates nearly 1.5m sq.m of space for clients in the Americas through a combination of multi-client and dedicated warehouses, according to McClelland.
"We have the expertise and the technology to successfully service clients on a short-term, seasonal need through our existing warehouses or develop and manage dedicated facilities for clients," said McClelland.
The company operates contract logistics facilities for a range of industries including automotive.
Earlier this year UTi opened a 21,000 sq.m logistics facility in Romulus, near Detroit, Michigan that brought together contract logistics and freight forwarding services under one roof and serves both the automotive and high-tech industries.
