Melanie Moore (pictured) has taken up a newly created role as head of sustainability at Wilh. Wilhelmsen, the global ro-ro shipping line and maritime services provider based in Norway. Moore moves from her role as director of health, safety and security at the company.
Moore said the role reflected the group’s “drive to enable sustainable global trade through [its] international network of companies and collaborative partnerships”.
In her new role, she will be contributing to the company’s efforts to make improvements in its environmental footprint and working on compliance and employee safety. The company follows sustainability reporting guidelines developed by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI G4), an international independent standards organisation focusing on areas such as climate change, human rights and corruption.
Moore has been working with the group for the best part of 17 years, having started with Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (Wilhelmsen has a 38% stake in, with Wallenius Lines holding 48%) back in 2000, looking after quality and change management. She spent four years at WWL as vice-president of environment, among a number of other executive roles at the company.
She joined Wilhelmsen in 2015 working in human resources and organisational development, as well as workplace health and safety.
