US-based automotive 3PL MetroGistics has announced its first acquisition since being bought by private equity group, Tailwind Capital, in October.
The company has acquired Georgia-based AmeriFleet, which says it is the biggest fleet logistics services partner in North America, for an undisclosed sum.
The merged operations of AmeriFleet and MetroGistics will create a 'one-stop-shop' for driveaway, trucking, storage, title and registration, compliance and a host of other fleet-related services, according to the two companies.
John Norris, AmeriFleet president, said: “The complementary nature of our service capabilities creates the platform for delivering a market-leading suite of services for the commercial fleet, OEM, dealer and rental-car markets.”
AmeriFleet was founded in 1997 and runs 68 locations in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico.
William Billiter, MetroGistics’ co-founder and managing partner, said: “Both companies have enjoyed steady growth and once we start working closely together, we will begin targeting new markets and service lines that will help us grow exponentially. We believe that this holistic, white-glove final-mile delivery service will provide tremendous value to our clients and partners.”
In 2015, MetroGistics merged with McNutt Automotive Logistics to expand its offering beyond the non-asset-based 3PL model and include a full range of logistics and asset-based transport services to carmakers, the used car market, dealerships and remarketing companies, among others.
