Logistics provider Kuehne + Nagel has taken over the management of Michelin’s logistics centre in Warsaw, Poland as part of a global contract logistics ‘master agreement’ recently signed between the two companies.
Kuehne + Nagel is bringing in a new warehouse management system and will use it to manage receipt and quality control of the tyremaker’s products, as well as stock management and order picking.
The logistics centre distributes tyres to Poland and surrounding markets.
“Contract logistics for the automotive industry is globally a strategic focus area for Kuehne + Nagel,” said Gianfranco Sgro, board member for Kuehne + Nagel International. “The new outsourcing project confirms our strategic focus and capability to provide highly specialised and industry-specific solutions for the automotive industry. It additionally fosters the global partnership with Michelin.”
Kuehne + Nagel has been providing services for Michelin for almost 10 years and manages warehouses for the tyre manufacturer in the US, Mexico and Thailand.
The recent master agreement formalises that 10-year working relationship but Kuehne + Nagel has not disclosed further details of the agreement.
