Yusen Logistics has announced a major contract renewal with Nissan Motor Manufacturing UK. Yusen provides inbound logistics to the carmaker’s manufacturing facility in Sunderland, designed to support production of the Qashqai, Note, Juke and Leaf vehicles.
Yusen has been providing services to Nissan since 2008 and oversees the transport of a wide variety of components from Nissan’s UK supplier base. As Nissan holds very little stock on site its operations with Yusen have depended on a quick and efficient delivery time of parts to Sunderland via Yusen’s crossdock in Leeds. Yusen also supports Nissan’s operations in Barcelona and collection services for Nissan’s international parts centre in Sunderland.
“Nissan is pleased to continue its activity with Yusen in the UK, as our successful business relationship moves forward,” said Edward Metcalfe, section manager of the Renault Nissan Purchasing Organisation.
Yusen UK’s managing director Ian Veitch, also commented: “This is great news which builds on the quality of service that we have provided to Nissan over a number of years. We look forward to continuing our long term and successful future with Nissan in the UK.”
It is hoped that the continued alliance will increase flexibility for parts collection throughout the UK for the carmaker.
