Packaging provider Orbis has opened a 39,000 sq.m production facility in Greenville, Texas to make reusable totes and pallets, incluidng its full range of products for automotive industry
Orbis has opened its latest US-based manufacturing plant in Greenville, Texas, producing reusable packaging, including totes and pallets. Production begins in the spring and will ramp up toward the autumn when Orbis will hold a grand opening.
The new plant has a 39,000 sq.m manufacturing footprint with an additional 22,300 sq.m of warehousing. Orbis is installing 16 presses, with further room for expansion. The packaging provider said it will be able to produce its full complement of automotive plastic products from the plant, based on customer demand.
“We’re excited to see this new plant come to life. This project brings us much needed capacity and space to support the growing needs of our customers who are turning to reusable packaging to add supply chain efficiency and sustainability,” said Norm Kukuk, president of Orbis. “It enables us to drive the further use of reusable packaging in the circular economy, better serve our customers by increasing our production capacity, and expand our geographic reach to deliver to customers faster.”
Sustainability was also behind the build of the facility, which has been repurposed and modernised out of an existing facility. The previous facility was originally built for plastic moulding by household storage company Rubbermaid and after 2011 was occupied by Fritz Industries before property developer EPM Partners bought it in 2021. Orbis has signed a lease-to-own agreement with EPM.
Orbis has ten manufacturing plants in the US, as well as one each in Canada and Mexico, and a European plant in Belgium.
