Xavier Duchemin joined Stellantis as vice-president of global supply chain in October this year.

Yves Caracatzanis was in the role for three years having moved there from his role as president and CEO of Russian carmaker Avtovaz in 2021. Caracatzanis also previously worked at Renault Group for more than 25 years across a range of supply chain, logistics and engineering roles.

Duchemin has been at Stellantis for almost four years, having joined as COO for Eurasia in Februry 2021. Prior to that he worked in sales at Opel in Germany, owned by Stellantis since 2017. He previously held marketing and communication roles at PSA Peugeot Citroën. He started his career Citroën in 1991 and was managing director for Citroën Austria between 2003 and 2005, and for Citroën UK between 2005 and 2008 .

Duchemin’s appointment follows a major reorganisation at Stellantis that includes the supply chain and logistics division. Stellantis has spent the last few years focused on building more resilience into its supply chain by encouraging cross-departmental collaboration across design, engineering, manufacturiing and purchasing.

Stellantis moved its supply chain and logistics operation from reporting into purchasing to now reporting into manufacturing, implying more syngeries in its operations, while the supply chain and logistics teams are still likely to interact widely and increasingly with other departments including purchasing and engineering.

According to its vice-president of logistics in North America, Mercedes Figureoa, this synergy and ccross-departmental collaboration has brought proactive communication with service providers. In-house procurement, engineering and design divisions are now all involved in early-stage collaboration to improve overall logistics, she told delegates at this year’s Automotive Logistics and Supply Chain Global conference in Dearborn, Michigan.

The company also announced in September that Parag Sharma had moved from Daimler Truck India to join Stellantis as its head of global purchasing and supply chain for India and Asia Pacific (IAP).
